Sun Mask (Sold)
George Nookamis (First Nation)
This artwork is based on the sun. In First Nations culture, the sun is a symbol of healing and peace. According to ancient First Nations mythology, the sun was freed from a dark confining box and returned to earth by the "Raven". Since then, the sun has provided warmth, light and life to all humanity. This beautiful vintage piece of art was created by George Nookamis and carved from just one piece of wood. The artwork is decorated with beautiful abalone shells.
